Dollar General penny list
The Dollar General penny list is an unofficial list, shared by shoppers in social media groups and on coupon sites, of items said to ring up for $0.01 at the register. Dollar General does not publish a penny list, and we found no official Dollar General policy on penny items when we checked on Nov 7, 2026.
What are Dollar General penny items?
Penny items are products that scan at one cent. Shopper groups describe them as discontinued or seasonal products that stores are expected to take off the shelf. Dollar General has not confirmed this on its own website, and we found no on-record statement from the company about penny items.
Is there an official Dollar General penny list?
No. Dollar General publishes a weekly ad, digital coupons and a Clearance Event page, but no penny list. Lists you see online come from shoppers, and nobody can confirm in advance that a given store still has an item or will sell it.
That is why DGSaver does not publish a penny list. We only list prices Dollar General itself prints, in the Dollar General weekly ad.
Can Dollar General refuse to sell penny items?
Dollar General has not published a rule about penny items. Its coupon policy does say the company reserves the right to “Limit purchase quantities to typical retail purchase quantities and to exclude resellers/dealers.”
If an employee tells you an item is not for sale, accept the answer. Please don’t hide items, ask staff to scan items for you to check prices, or argue at the register. The store sets the policy.
Dollar General penny list today: why lists don’t match your store
- Lists are built from what other shoppers report, often from different stores and different days.
- Items marked down at one store may already be gone at another.
- Dollar General does not confirm or support these lists, so nothing on them is guaranteed.
Verified ways to save at Dollar General instead
These savings come from Dollar General’s own ad and coupons, so they work at the register:
- This week’s ad. The current ad (Nov 8 to 14) has 294 deals. See the Dollar General weekly ad.
- Digital coupons. 84 deals in this week’s ad are priced with a DG digital coupon. See Dollar General digital coupons.
- $5 off $25. When the coupon is available in your app, it takes $5 off a $25 order before tax. See Dollar General $5 off $25.
- Clearance. Dollar General runs Clearance Events with marked-down items. See Dollar General clearance.
